FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is eating disorder recovery coaching?
Eating disorder recovery coaching provides practical, goal-focused support for navigating the day-to-day challenges of recovery. Coaching may focus on building more flexible routines, identifying barriers to recovery, strengthening coping skills, working toward personal wellness goals, and creating accountability between appointments with your treatment providers. Coaching is individualized to where you are in your recovery and what feels most helpful to you.
Do I need to have an eating disorder diagnosis to work with a coach?
No. You do not need a formal eating disorder diagnosis to receive coaching. You may be struggling with your relationship with food, body image, rigid routines, recovery behaviors, or simply feel that you need additional support. We can discuss what you are experiencing and whether coaching is an appropriate fit for your needs.
Are coaching sessions offered in-person or virtually?
I exclusively offer virtual coaching sessions through a HIPAA-compliant secure platform. This flexible option lets you connect with us from the comfort of your home—or wherever you feel most at ease. Virtual sessions save you travel time, fit seamlessly into your schedule, and provide a private, secure space to focus on your wellness goals.
What’s the best way to prepare for your first consultation?
To make the most of your first consultation, it’s helpful to reflect on your current health status, specific goals, and any challenges you’re facing. Think about the kind of support you’re seeking from a health coach. Don’t worry if you’re unsure—our role is to guide you through the process and help create a personalized plan that fits your needs. We’re here to support you every step of the way!
Is health insurance accepted for coaching sessions?
At this time, health coaching services are not covered by insurance. However, many clients are able to use Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), or Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRA) for reimbursement. This allows you to invest in your wellness with greater flexibility and less financial stress.
We are also actively working toward future insurance coverage and are in the process of aligning with CMS guidelines to expand access through insurance plans in the near future. 😊
Can I work with a coach while I'm in PHP or IOP?
Potentially. Coaching may be helpful alongside a higher level of eating disorder care, but it should complement rather than interfere with your existing treatment program. If you are currently participating in PHP, IOP, residential treatment, or another structured program, we can discuss whether additional coaching is appropriate and whether coordination with your treatment team would be beneficial.
